Chadwick Johnson (known to us fondly as Chad) passed away on the morning of August 26, 2010. He was 85 years old and is survived by his wife, Betsey, and their five children and their families. We will remember Chad for his subtle wit, his participation in our choir, his passionate interest in social justice, his tennis game, his overarching love of his wife and family, and for his charming rendition of Chattanooga Choochoo.
Chad's body is being donated, at his request, to the Harvard Medical School. When Harvard returns his ashes to Betsey, probably in the spring, the family is planning a grave side service at South Amherst Cemetery. Other plans are uncertain at this point, but it was Chad's wish that there be no formal memorial service.
It is suggested by the family that memorial contributions may be made to the Amherst Survival Center or to the Long-Range Planning Fund of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst.
