The Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst is home to remarkable people who have found a loving sanctuary with each other in a free and liberal faith community.
We begin each fall worship season with a water ingathering, uniting water in a communal vessel symbolizing the life-source this community offers us. And we close each spring by sharing flowers we each bring to create a communal bouquet that symbolizes our beautiful diversity. As we leave that day, we each take a flower we did not bring, knowing that we bring our community with us everywhere we go and what unites us all is our common humanity.
Our stories—how we found our way to this nurturing and caring community—are as diverse and as similar as that bouquet of flowers. And this community in which we have all found a home sustains us just as does the water we collect to welcome all to each new year.
