Mindfulness is bringing awareness to what is happening within our minds, bodies and hearts in the present moment. Learning to live more fully in the present, attentive to our inner experience, we are able to respond to life with greater clarity, steadiness of mind, kindness and wisdom. Come and enjoy guided mindfulness practices and time for discussion. No prior experience needed. Two Tuesdays each month, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at a member’s home. For dates and location, contact Jess Murphy, Jessica.Mindfulness@gmail.com .
Welcome to anyone who likes to knit and crochet! As part of Women4Women- Knitting4Peace, this group — open to all genders, and beginners, too — is dedicated to “crafting hope, healing, and peace one stitch at a time” by creating such items as Peace Shawls, Peace Pals, and Blankets for Peace, which have been requested by people in areas of global suffering. For more information, contact Mary Wyse (413-549-5406, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Joining the choir is a great way to make connections at our UU Society! We meet at 8:45 a.m. most Sundays, practicing the song or songs we will sing later that morning and learning a new piece or two for future services. Child care is available to allow parents of young children to participate in choir. We have a lot of fun together, sharing laughter and great music!
The Men’s Breakfast Group
This group meets every Wednesday at 7:00 A.M. at Kelly’s Restaurant (314 College Street, Amherst).
The Women’s Lunch Group
This group meets at a different restaurant every other Thursday at noon for spirited conversation over local, inexpensive cuisine. It welcomes every woman, whether she is new to our Society or a longer-time member or friend. It is not necessary to RSVP, but if you have questions, need help finding a ride, or want to be on the e-notification list, contact Sophie Rogers at 413-835-0644 or email@example.com.
We hold a monthly potluck social supper in different members’ homes. In keeping with our UU Society’s commitment to sustainability, we encourage the use of local foods at these gatherings.
Summer Pancake Breakfasts
On the last Sunday of June and July, some of the men of our UU Society come to our kitchen to prepare a congregational breakfast (a small donation is requested at the door).
Interfaith Opportunities Network (ION)
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst is a member of ION, a lay interfaith network that strengthens communication among participating religious congregations for education and collaboration.
