Dedicated Offerings provide a way for our Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst community to recognize and financially support worthy organizations engaged in projects that reflect our guiding Unitarian-Universalist principles.

This month will see a very special collection. Our Society  is joining with other ION (Interfaith Opportunity Network) members in sponsoring A Better Chance’s 50th Anniversary Gala this June. “ABC” was founded as a collaboration of Amherst College, Amherst Regional High School (ARHS) and members of the Amherst community.  The program provides exceptionally bright minority youth from poor school districts the opportunity to live in Amherst and attend ARHS.

Ninety-five percent of ABC’s 125 graduates  have attended college. ABC relies entirely on private donations. These donations support the essential daily operations, including meals, utilities, maintenance and costs of transporting the students home during school breaks. The money raised for the 50th anniversary celebration will go towards repairing and updating their 150-year-old Prospect St. house.  Like all of our homes, repairs are essential and often costly. Please help the ABC students keep the roof over their heads by giving generously on April 21. Thank you.
