No, this is not a “book club.” You don’t have to join, or make a commitment. Just sign up to talk those books that interest you.
The first discussion will be online on Thursday, October 27, at 7 p.m. The wonderful novella is A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers, which Rev. Rachael spoke of enthusiastically at the September 18 service. We’re told it is extremely readable, short, and full of great philosophy, which should make for great discussion. It looks at a future that is optimistic and hopeful, where situations arise from abundance instead of scarcity. A robot, arriving unexpectedly, cannot leave until the question of “What do people need?” is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.
